"In Orbit" submitted for International Blues Challenge by South Sound Blues Association!
The South Sound Blues Association has selected our new "In Orbit" album as their entry in the Blues Foundation International Blues Challenge, for the "Best Self Produced CD" competition. For thirty-four years, The Blues Foundation has celebrated and recognized established blues artists through the Blues Music Awards. For twenty-nine years, The Blues Foundation has encouraged up and coming blues performers through the International Blues Challenge. The Best Self-Produced CD was established in 2005 to recognize excellence in independent Blues recordings - recordings not on a major established label. Entries are submitted by Blues Foundation affiliates from around the world, with one CD per affiliate group. Judging at the Foundation level will occur by radio/print members, first to select finalists, then to select the winner. The winner will be announced just prior to the overall IBC weekend in February 2014. We are honored to represent the SSBA in the "Best Self Produced CD" IBC !
Brian Lee & the Orbiters receive WBS 2013 "Best of the Blues" Award!
The members of the Washington Blues Society have awarding Brian Lee & the Orbiters with the 2013 "Best of the Blues" Award for the "Little Bill & the Blue Notes Traditional Band" category! We are very honored by this recognition - especially as this category recognizes the combined efforts of all our band members, and as it has a focus on the traditional blues that we love to play! It was also especially delightful to be presented the award by Billy Stapleton - a good friend, and long time guitarist with the award's name sake traditional band- Little Bill & the Blue Notes! Thank you WBS members!!!
If you aren't a WBS member, consider joining! The WBS hosts a free monthly meeting with both an acoustic opening act, and electric band. The WBS also publishes the excellent monthly "Bluesletter" with news, a calendar of performances/venues, and other great articles on the blues scene.
